Sunrise, Music and the Day Ahead

Nov 10, 2013 By Elin Stebbins Waldal 6 Comments

Watching the sunsunrise, Watching it come
Watching it come up, Over the rooftops…

Cloudy and warm, Maybe a storm
You can never quite tell, From the morning…

And it’s going to be a day, There is really no way to say, No to the morning…

Yes it’s going to be a day, There is really nothing left to say, But come on morning.–Dan Folgelberg

Do you ever feel as if your life is set to music? I do.

Take for example this mornings sunrise–as the pinks deepened and the magic of the morning unfolded, Dan Folgelberg, was singing his, Morning Song, inside my head. Moments later Jimmy joined me on the deck and the refrain from the song, Feels Like Home, by Edwina Hayes, drowned out Dan.

J.Sun.BYBIt feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I’m all the way back where I belong
It feels like I’m all the way back where I belong.–Edwina Hayes

There we stood on our deck, in the cold morning air–the soundtrack of my life on repeat– bare feet on wet wood, stilled by the majesty.

Indeed, it’s going to be a day…

Love, love, love “The Morning Song”…. in fact, I love almost everything Dan Fogelberg ever wrote. 🙂

And, yes. I, too, often feel like there is a soundtrack to my life!

Music really does have a way of bringing one back doesn’t it? Thanks for being here and sharing today.

One of the few demands I had when we bought our house was that it be “east-west facing.” Getting a view of the Rocky Mountains was a bonus. Every morning, I watch the sun rise out my living room window, alighting the sky with pinks and oranges, and every evening I watch it set through my kitchen window, slowly disappearing behind the Rocky Mountains.

And, on any given day, there is music playing somewhere in my house.
