Endings are tough. Culturally I feel it’s fair to say we don’t do them justice. Things end and we are taught to bury our emotion, move on, get over it.
And yet…if we listen…we hear about heartache, missed opportunities and loss in the music. Thankfully artists bite clear into the core of the apple of emotion, and put into words what so many of us struggle to express and feel.
For the Twisted Mix Tape: Farewell, I am going to focus on the artists I feel have nailed endings.
First up, Amos Lee’s, A Chill in the Air. I wish I could tell you I knew about Amos Lee when he first arrived on the music scene but, I can’t. I only just heard of him and it was by accident on the radio. Yes, the radio! Anyway here he is closing off a love relationship…
Second Up. The Funeral by Band of Horses. The title and words say it all.
For #3 I lean on Ray LaMontagne, in his Beg, Steal, Borrow, a song about having the chops to end your childhood and chase after your own dreams.
It wouldn’t be my mix tape if I didn’t throw in a cover, here we have Brave New World’s, Say Something, sung by the X-Factor sensations, Alex and Sierra.
And to close it off is Bird York singing, In the Deep.
Thank you Jen, I may not have played weekly but those times I have? I thoroughly enjoyed–wishing you only the best. xx

Thank YOU Elin, every contribution you made enlightened me. You can’t love music without spreading sunshine. Even when we’re saying goodbye. Love loved Ray LaMontagne also Say Something is such a haunting song, I really loved this version.
Please promise to come back when we go to once a month in the fall, it will probably be easier for everyone and I would love to stay connected!
